Tanim Awwal is a Budget Analyst at the Community, Development, and Equal Opportunity Branch of the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Office of the Chief Financial Officer. In addition to his program portfolios, including the Homeless Assistance Grants and the Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity portfolios, he works as the budget liaison with Enterprise Fraud and Risk Management. His role includes developing guidance and coordinating with HUD’s Risk Officers and Program Budget Analysts for the President’s Budget. In the past, he served as a Management Analyst for the Office of Field Policy and Management’s, where he served as the data lead.
While Tanim joined HUD in December 2016, he is not new to public service. From 2012-2014, Tanim served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in rural Kenya, where he performed data analysis on malaria trends. While completing his Masters at Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs, Tanim was a Volunteer Firefighter at the Monmouth Junction (New Jersey) Fire Department. In his private life, he’s enthusiastic about music and photography.
