Michael James Frueh was appointed as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Planning and Performance Management in the Office of Enterprise Integration in June 2019. He is responsible for the Department’s strategic planning, enterprise risk management, performance management, enterprise governance, and business architecture support.
Prior to this appointment, he served in various roles across VA such as Executive Director of VBA’s Benefits Assistance Service and VBA Chief of Staff, and as the Executive Director of VBA’s Loan Guaranty Service. He previously worked in the structured finance group at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Bankers Trust’s asset securitization group, and Andersen Consulting’s commercial practice.
Mr. Frueh has a BS in Mathematics from Pepperdine University (Computer Science and pre-Medicine), and an MBA in Business Administration (Finance and Economics) from the George Washington University. He served as the president of Pepperdine’s DC Alumni for 5 years, was selected as a Fellow in the Council for Excellence in Government, and is a graduate of the Leadership for a Democratic Society at the Federal Executive Institute. Mr. Frueh received a Presidential Rank Award as a Distinguished Executive in 2017.
