Thomas Peng has served as the Peace Corps’ Chief of Operations and Administration (COA) since April 3, 2023.
COA Peng brings more than 20 years of public and private sector experience and has led, managed, and supported teams in the technology and nonprofit sectors.
In his role, COA Peng oversees internal operations, human resources, and strategic information, research, and planning. Prior to this role, he served as the agency’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Executive Officer. He also previously served as the Peace Corps as Chief Information Officer, where he strengthened operations and promoted a culture of transparency and inclusion.
COA Peng’s Peace Corps roots extend back to his service as a Volunteer in the Philippines from 2006-2008, where he trained teachers to use technology in their classrooms. Throughout his career, COA Peng has championed diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives by sponsoring employee resource groups and facilitating safe spaces for all employees.
COA Peng holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in Information Systems with a specialization in security from Boston University.
