Michael (Mike) Howe is a Senior Advisor for Oversight at the National Science Foundation (NSF), Office of Budget, Finance and Award Management, Division of Institution and Award Support.
Mike joined NSF in November 2004. Prior to starting the new position he served as Senior Staff Associate, Risk Management and Program Integrity, coordinated fulfillment of NSF’s responsibilities for risk management and program integrity under the guidelines of OMB Circular A-123 “Management’s Responsibility for Enterprise Risk Management and Internal Control.” He insured effectiveness and compliance in the areas of internal controls, DATA Act, Fraud Reduction and Data Analytics Act, and the Improper Payments Information Act.
Mike retired at the rank of Colonel from the Army Reserves after completing 30 years of service in the active Army, Army National Guard and Army Reserves.
