Ms. Smiley began her Federal career in 2009 and currently serves as the acting Deputy Director for the Risk Management and Assurance Division within the Office of the Chief Financial Officer at the Department of Homeland Security. In this role, Ms. Smiley has assisted in developing a robust, risk-based information technology assurance program that encompasses Federal requirements while also supporting increased control environment maturity and progression for the Department. In addition, her office has been working to increase Department-wide service provider monitoring, implementation of data analytics, and progressing the coupling of information technology with risk and impact, particularly related to financial reporting and processes, to assist in utilizing risk-based prioritization for limited resources. Ms. Smiley holds a BA in Economics and a MS in Information Security and Assurance. In addition, to assist in combining public and private standards with the Federal government environment, Ms. Smiley couples her previous IT work experience and education with her nationally recognized certifications in Information Systems Auditing (CISA), Cybersecurity Professional (CSX-P), Ethical Hacking (CEH), and Forensic Hacking Investigator (CHFI).
