Born in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq, Meer immigrated to the United States at the age of four, first living in Maryland before his family would permanently relocate to Northern Virginia. Meer remained close to home, pursuing both his undergraduate and graduate degrees at George Mason University, wherein he received his bachelor degree in Global Affairs and Business from the Honors College as well as his Master’s in International Commerce and Policy from the Schar School of Policy and Government.
Following his studies, Meer would go on to work as a contractor for USAID – helping to implement the Agency’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Program during its initial years. This role eventually transitioned into a full time position with the Agency, where he serves as a Program Management Specialist within the Office of the Chief Financial Officer, continuing to mature the program ERM alongside his brilliant and talented colleagues!
In his free time, Meer enjoys traveling to different cities across the country, having visited Scottsdale, San Diego, Santa Clara, and Miami this year. His hobbies include spending time keeping up with his favorite sports teams – the Los Angeles Lakers and the Washington Commanders with which he has a love/hate relationship – as well as helping his Bengal cat escape from various rooms she locks herself in throughout his apartment.
