Linda Irvine is the Executive Director of the Risk Management Branch (RMB). As Executive Director Linda is responsible to assess, formulate, establish, implement and direct the provision of a broad range of risk management initiatives, policies and services to safeguard the public interest including: enterprise risk management and security policies for the provincial government and entities; comprehensive insurance and self insurance programs; loss prevention and claims management services to the provincial public sector; and advising Treasury Board and ministry executives on indemnification and funding mechanisms for managing significant losses arising from risk.
Before joining the branch in 2003, she worked for 18 years in the private property & casualty insurance industry. There she held the positions of underwriter and line manager for the Victoria office of a global insurance company. Linda attained her designation as an Insurance Institute of Canada Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) in 1999. In 2003 she obtained her Canadian Risk Manager (CRM) designation through Simon Fraser University’s distance program.
